Explore the magic and mystery of borosilicate (aka Pyrex) using a high tech torch to melt and shape your glass into beautiful marbles.

Please note: No experience is necessary. Closed toe shoes must be worn. Projects will be available for pickup one week after class.

Age:
This class is appropriate for ages 18+.

Location:
This class will take place indoors at Studio 34 Creative Arts Learning Center, located at 34 Elton St, Rochester, NY 14607. The studio is located on the second floor of the largest of the three brick buildings on Elton St. Please use the entrance on the right side. Additional parking is located at the corner of Atlantic and Elton.

About the teachers:
Samantha Sonnenfeld is a graduate student in the Master's of Fine Arts program at Rochester Institute of Technology with a major in glass art. She has been a resident artist at Denver Glass, a visiting artist in Switzerland, and a demonstrating artist at Glass Expo in Nevada. Sam's glass experience includes functional pieces as well as large scale installations. Sam's flamework sculptures are primarily borosilicate glass. Her body of work includes glass blowing using furnace/gaffer glass.

Marilynne Lipshutz is the executive director of Studio 34 Creative Arts Center, located in Rochester's Neighborhood of the Arts for more than 20 years. Marilynne retired as a psychotherapist and took up glass blowing, glass fusing, and casting as a hobby which grew into a successful teaching studio, now home to 28 local faculty and visiting artists from around the globe.

Studio 34 is known for small class sizes to maximize student learning experience. Since opening in 2000, Studio 34 has welcomed more than 15,000 students, some traveling from around the world to take classes taught by their professional faculty and visiting artists from across the globe.
