Learn the basics of chainmail! You will have the opportunity to make your own jump rings or make a bracelet from a selection provided. Utilizing the Byzantine weave or European 4 in 1, students will then create their own wearable piece of art. No prior experience or training is needed to attend. While the curriculum is designed for the novice, anyone interested in refining their chainmail skills is welcome to attend!
Please note: This class is for ages 14+. Metal smithing jewelry classes are interactive and involve physical activity with emphasis on hand eye coordination. Please make sure to wear close-toed sneakers or boots, jeans and a cotton t-shirt. Please don't wear flip-flops, open toed shoes or highly flammable clothing.To ensure the best possible class experience for all students, please contact Arc + Flame Center prior to class if you any have concerns with your vision, hearing, hand dexterity or mental health.

About the teacher:
Craig Zaremba is a Chainmaille instructor at Rochester Arc + Flame. He have been an instructor at Rochester Arc + flame for 2 years. Craig is also a Middle School Science teacher in the city of Rochester and this job provides him with another opportunity to impart my love of life long learning to other people. He has been working with chainmaille for about 11 years. He is still experimenting with learning how to anodize aluminum rings for color. In addition to making chainmaille jewelry, he is also an accomplished woodworker, and just started bowl turning, play the guitar and a self-proclaimed master fixer of “stuff”.
