Thursday, July 21st | 6:30pm-8:00pm | Bake a Strawberry-Vanilla "Pake"


Join us for a delicious online baking class! Is it a pie? Is it a cake? No, it’s a PAKE! Surprise your next dinner party with this unusual dessert that looks like a pie on the outside, but a cake on the inside. A great way to enjoy the bounty of summer strawberries!

Ingredients Needed:
- cooking spray
- 1 - 18.25 box vanilla cake mix (plus required ingredients)
- 3 c. (or about 1 lb.) fresh strawberries, quartered
- 1/4 c. granulated sugar
- pinch of salt
- 2 - 12-inch rolls of refrigerated pie dough 
- all-purpose flour for dusting
- coarse sugar, for sprinkling
- vanilla ice cream or whipped cream for serving

Equipment Needed:
- large bowl
- hand mixer or stand-up mixer
- spatula
- 9-inch pie plate
- measuring cups
- pastry cutter or sharp paring knife
- spoon
- cooling rack
- cutting board

Please note: In order to follow along with the instructor, please ensure you have the ingredients and equipment ready. At this time, gluten-free and vegan options are unavailable for this class.

This class is appropriate for all ages, although anyone under the age of 12 should be accompanied by an adult.

About the teacher:
MaryAnne Quatrano-Holleran was a classroom teacher for 34 years and she has put her teaching skills together with her love of cooking Italian (her heritage) food. She has taught a monthly Italian cooking class for 10 years, as well as in-home cooking classes. MaryAnne has also appeared on the FoodNetwork! Her skills and recipes have been passed down to her from her Nonna and she has also taken private cooking classes in Sorrento, Florence and Siena.
