During this in-depth, two-day class, students will learn to build and glaze their very own handbuilt mug. In the first class, students will have plenty of one-on-one instruction and tips for constructing a functional slab-built mug. There will be a variety of texture mats, stamps, and underglazes to help make your mug as unique as you are. In the second class, choose a glaze from a variety of colors and finishes to complete the project all on your own.
Please note: To complete this project, students will need to attend both sessions, July 14 and 28. All materials will be provided, although students are welcome to bring their own textures or stamps to use. The mugs will be fired after class and will be ready for pickup at Ritual Clay Company three weeks after the class date.

About the teacher
:Abigael Rice has both a bachelors in Art with a focus in ceramics and a bachelors in Anthropology from SUNY Brockport. After undergraduate school, she moved to Canada to complete her masters in Environmental Anthropology. Abbi's research has brought her from northern British Columbia, to Cuba, and Israel. Through her research and training in environmental degradation and human rights, her art attempts to bring anthropological discourse to the general public. In 2018, Abbi moved back to Rochester and found Ritual Clay Company. Realizing she had similar underlying artistic values in human rituals and patterns, Abbi now helps Sara, the owner of Ritual Clay Company with overflow in the studio in addition to making her own pottery.
