Wednesday, July 20th | 6:00pm-9:00pm | Shibori Dye Workshop: Natural Indigo

This workshop is two-part, starting with a traditional Japanese instruction on different resist dyeing methods, techniques with specific guidelines to create a repeating pattern custom to a piece. Demonstrations for clamping, stitching, and binding will be discussed for each different Shibori result. The second part of the workshop will explore the “magic” that is natural indigo. Dip your piece into the indigo vat and witness the oxidation process necessary to achieve full indigo color. At the end of the workshop, a group discussion on resist removal and instruction for care will be held. Attendees will receive two large cotton napkins to work on and can bring one small item to dye (t-shirt, pillowcase, table-runner, etc).

This class is appropriate for ages 18+.
