Learn to draw a beautiful anemone using colored pencils! After covering the importance of basic drawing materials, instructor Lesley Shakespeare will discuss and demonstrate a few drawing techniques such as line, blending, layering and highlighting – all of which add to the depth and dimension of one’s artwork. Anemones lend themselves to a beginner colored pencil class because of their simplicity and the use of only a few colors. No experience necessary, and tracing is available if needed. About the teacher:
Lesley is the former president of the Colored Pencil Club of Rochester and has been teaching art since 1987 – almost as long as she's been painting. She paints in many mediums but mostly lately in oils, acrylics and colored pencils (the latter being her favorite). For botanical drawings, Lesley especially loves colored pencil because it lends more control and attention to the details that make floral and leaf work realistic.
"It comes natural to me to want to share anything good or exciting and I think that's what turned me into a teacher,” she says. “Art is nourishment for the soul and the possibilities are endless.”
