Monday, October 3rd | 6:00pm-8:00pm | Architecture in the Wild: Exploring Maplewood’s Lake View Park

$27.00
Love old buildings but don’t know a Queen Anne from a Dutch Colonial? In this class, the Landmark Society’s Young Urban Preservationists (YUPs) take students out onto the streets to explore Rochester’s architectural history in its natural setting. In this walking tour, traverse one of Rochester’s most impressive streets and learn the names of important architectural styles, basic architectural terminology, and how to approximately date the buildings we see every day.

Please note: This class is an active walking tour. Please wear appropriate clothes for the weather and walking shoes. If you’ve attended the Crash Course in American Architectural History classes, this is a great opportunity to put your new knowledge to the test out in the field; however, this class is also great for beginners.

Age:
This class is appropriate for ages 14+. Anyone under the age of 18 must attend with a parent or guardian. Please purchase one ticket per person attending.

Location:
This class is a walking tour that starts at the corner of Seneca Parkway and Maplewood Ave. Click here for directions. Please be aware of alternate side parking regulations and plan sufficient time for parking and walking to the meeting spot.

Accessibility:
If you would like to request a sign language interpreter or will be attending class with an aide, please fill out our contact form. Please also let us know if you have any preferences (seating, vision access, etc).

And we have fun doing it!
