Join us as we explore a local park to learn how to identify trees! This introductory class will focus on common local tree species and teach students how to use a variety of tree features (leaves, bark, seeds, size, shape, etc.) to identify them in different seasons. We will cover about 0.5 to 1 mile of forested land at a leisurely pace with plenty of stops for identification practice. We'll provide you with a clipboard, pen and waterproof guide to Trees of NY during class to practice identifying trees, and then take these materials home after class as a reference for future tree identification. Please note: Please dress appropriately for the outdoors (including footwear for hiking), and bring water/insect repellent/camera if you wish. Class will take place at Greece Canal Park, 241 Elmgrove Road, Greece, NY 14626. Please park and meet at Millenium Lodge (see map). This class will have a rain date of 8/21 so we ask that students please be available for both dates just in case. About the teacher:
