A lesson on how to use the Batik technique to create a design custom for fabric. A focus on a single motif or repeating pattern will be applied on a 24’’x24’’ piece of cotton. Then as a group, we will dip our pieces in the dye vat and discover the oxidation process with natural indigo. Part one’s workshop will end with a rinse that will allow our pieces to dry while laying flat. On the following day, there will be a station set up at the Brainery for you to pick up your piece and remove the wax resist with instruction. Please note: This class is in two parts. Part one will be held on Saturday May 27th from 12:00pm-2:00pm, part two will be held on Sunday, May 28th from 3:30pm-4:00pm. This class is a part of Rochester Brainery's "What A Crafty Weekend"! You can purchase a full weekend pass here.
