Students will learn to safely work in a hot glass studio, and have fun learning to make their own glass beads! Demonstrations will be given in class to show students basic shaping techniques, and surface embellishment with frit and stringers for your own custom look. Students will design and create up to eight glass beads suitable for jewelry. Caution: serious fun!
Please note: No prior experience with glass required. Glass and eye protection included. Projects will be kiln fired and available for pick up the day after class.
This class is appropriate for ages 16+.
This class will take place indoors at Studio 34 Creative Arts Learning Center, located at 34 Elton St, Rochester, NY 14607. The studio is located on the second floor of the largest of the three brick buildings on Elton St. Please use the entrance on the right side of the building. Additional parking is located at the corner of Atlantic and Elton.
About the teacher:
Marilynne Lipshutz is the executive director of Studio34 Creative Arts Center, located in Rochester's Neighborhood of the Arts for more than 16 years. Marilynne retired as a psychotherapist and took up glass blowing, glass fusing, and casting as a hobby which grew into a successful teaching studio, now home to 28 local faculty and visiting artists from around the globe.
