“Got your back!” That phrase is popular among improv teams because – while it can be nerve-wracking to make up scenes on the spot – knowing your teammates will support you can bring you confidence. The theory is, if you make your partners look good and they operate under the same guideline, you can never fail. There are no mistakes, just gifts! In this class, you’ll practice the fundamentals of improvisation with a focus on supporting your partners. You’ll play games, perform short scenes, and work with your teammates to discover characters, themes, and your comedic voice. You will get out of your head, trust your instincts, and listen to your partners for inspiration. Not only is improv fun, but it is also a tool for life: it can make you a better listener, public speaker, and creative thinker.
This class is appropriate for ages 18+.
