Heat up your relationship: Enjoy a fun evening out at a blacksmith shop! Blacksmithing involves making objects from wrought iron or steel by forging the metal, using tools to hammer, bend, and cut. In this class you’ll get to express your creative side while forming individual petals into a cohesive flower. Light snacks, beverages, and all the materials necessary to make one beautiful finished project with your partner will be provided. Please note: Each ticket covers the cost for one couple (2 people). This class is for ages 16+. Blacksmith Date Night is a very interactive class that involves significant physical activity and heat. If this sounds like your idea for a great experience, we promise you an evening that you will remember for years to come! Please make sure to wear close-toed sneakers or boots, jeans and a cotton t-shirt. Do NOT wear flip-flops, open toed shoes or highly flammable clothing. Brian Martens is a founding staff member at the Arc + Flame. Brian has been teaching both blacksmithing and coppersmithing here at the Arc + Flame since 2012 and is a frequent demonstrator for public events such as The Great New York State Fair Brian has blended the arts to create effective and safe hammering techniques for people of all sizes. Brian has served as both the local Forgemaster and state Treasurer for the New York State Designer Blacksmiths
which is a non-profit organization for the preservation of blacksmithing skills. Although he is technical but Brian firmly believes that learning only really occurs when you are having fun.
