Learn to create a bottle opener out of metal by hot forging. The class will go over the basic operations of punching a slot, drifting it open, using a punch to set a tab and testing it. Once the bottle opener is finished the student will complete the other end with a twist and/or a decorative finial as time permits. Our experienced instructors will use a combination of lecture, demonstration and hands-on instruction at the forge to enhance your learning experience. This class is designed to let you experience what it's like to work hot steel. Focus will be on the fundamentals of hammer control to get the steel to respond the way you want it to.

Please Note: Open to all levels! Blacksmithing classes are very interactive and involve significant physical activity. Please make sure to wear close-toed sneakers or boots, jeans and a cotton t-shirt. Do NOT wear flip-flops, open toed shoes or highly flammable clothing. To ensure the best possible class experience for all students, please contact Arc + Flame Center prior to class if you any have concerns with your vision, hearing, hand dexterity or mental health.
