Celebrate National Pig Day and learn to create a steak turner out of metal by hot forging. The class will go over the basic operations of forming and decorating with the anvil, hammer and tooling to give the utensils shape and character. Students will learn through a combination of lecture, demonstration and hands-on instruction at the forge to enhance their learning experience. This class is designed to let students experience what it's like to work hot steel. Focus will be on the fundamentals of hammer control to get steel to respond the way students want it to. Please Note: No experience required. Blacksmithing classes are very interactive and involve significant physical activity. Please make sure to wear closed toe sneakers or boots, jeans and a cotton t-shirt. Do not wear flip-flops, open toed shoes or highly flammable clothing.
