Broadening Your Wine Horizons: The “Other” Cabernet

Thursday, September 2nd | 7:00pm-8:15pm | Broadening Your Wine Horizons: The “Other” Cabernet

It’s easy to ask casually for a glass of cabernet at a bar or out at dinner. But while that generally implies a Cabernet Sauvignon, it might be worth considering a Cabernet Franc! Cab Franc which is sometimes a “better match,” for your meal, and might provide a change in your routine. In this lecture, you'll be introduced to Cabernet Franc, a widely planted, but largely unknown, grape. Learn facts about the regions in which this wine is made, the techniques in the winemaking process that influence wine characteristics, what they taste and smell like, and what types of foods pair well. You will also be able to compare Cabernet Franc with its better-known offspring, Cabernet Sauvignon.

Please note: While not required, participants are invited to crack open one or more of the recommended wines that will be discussed in class. They are available, amongst other places, at Pinnacle Liquor on Monroe Avenue in Brighton. Please follow this link for a list of recommended wines.
