Let’s make soap! In this class students will learn about the history of soap, how it has changed over the centuries, and modern soap making methods. Then, we’ll get into making soap itself! Beginning with a plain soap base, students will have the opportunity to make their own batch of custom crafted pumpkin soap. 

Please note: Students will have the option for delivery or pick-up for their soap-making supply kit. Please select your choice of delivery method in the drop-down menu. If delivery is selected, please submit your name and address to this Google Form by November 12th to receive the kit in time. Pick-up will be available on Thursday, November 19th from 3:00pm-7:00pm at Rochester Brainery, 176 Anderson Ave. F109, Rochester, NY 14607.

Supplies Needed:
- double boiler-type pan (may use nested pans)
- spatula
- grater
- stove

The recommended age for this class is 14+.

This class will take place online through Zoom. Links to Zoom classes will be sent out by 9:30am the day of the class. If you do not receive your link, please check your spam or submit an email through our contact page.

About the teacher:
Beth Byrne is an experienced, certified soapmaker and teacher who enjoys sharing what she knows. She began as a gardener, then herbalist and finally, an avid bath and body maker. Currently, Beth serves as the Managing Editor of Making Soap, Cosmetics & Candles Magazine and is the past secretary of the Handcrafted Soap & Cosmetic Guild’s Board of Directors. She resides in the Rochester area with her husband and two dogs.
