This class is an entry-level workshop focused on four major concepts: awareness, mobility, distance management, and angles. This course is intended to be an introduction into the world of self-defense. In this class, students will concentrate on techniques for safely disengaging from a violent encounter including strategies for breaking grips, defending yourself from the ground, and striking to make space for yourself.

This class is appropriate for ages 18+.

This class will take place at Rochester Brainery, located at 176 Anderson Ave F109, Rochester NY 14607.

About the teacher:
Derek Romig is a fifth-grade school teacher in the Rochester City School District. Before he became a teacher he was a veteran in the United States army where he served in Operation Iraqi Freedom. He has training in Martial Arts including Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, Western-style boxing, and wrestling. He is passionate about teaching and learning about self-defense and physical fitness.
