Faux calligraphy achieves the look of traditional brush calligraphy but with the thicker lines drawn in manually - which makes it a perfect partner to stamp carving! In this two-part class, we'll learn the ins and outs of the faux calligraphy technique and then learn how to carve our words into a stamp!
The class will include:
-One 4x6 carving block
-One cutting tool (as pictured)
-Zipper pencil pouch to print on
About the teachers:
Anna Vos is a modern calligrapher who has always loved the aesthetics of words. She is mostly self-taught and has completed Liss Smith’s freestyle calligraphy course. Anna lives in the Highland Park neighborhood with her husband Elliot and their two children, Ruby and Rory. She enjoys pretty words, making music, feeding people, and nerdy literature and television. You can find her shop, OwlPostLettering, on Etsy for custom lettered pieces and other nerdy artwork. She also teaches “Making Homemade Pierogi” at the Rochester Brainery.
Kelsey Schmid is a proud Rochester native, artist, and local art educator, specializing in Printmaking and Hand Lettering. She studied Studio Art and Art Education at Nazareth College, where her love for printmaking and stamp carving was born. Along with running her small business, @inkandpinedesign she teaches art full time at Longridge School in Greece.
