Monday, July 16th | 6:30pm-8:30pm | Faux Calligraphy: Techniques and Crafts
Love the look of calligraphy, but looking for an easier way? Try your hand at faux calligraphy and skip the brush pens. Faux calligraphy achieves the look of traditional brush calligraphy but with the thicker lines drawn in manually. We’ll learn the ins and outs of the faux calligraphy technique, and then we’ll use the skills we’ve learned to make a journal or greeting card to take home! You can even try your hand at embossing (using a special marker and powder to make raised lettering) or there will be plenty of colorful markers available for decorating. Class location: This class will take place at Rochester Brainery, 176 Anderson Ave. F109, Rochester, NY 14607. Click here for directions. About the teacher:Anna Vos is a modern calligrapher who has always loved the aesthetics of words. She is mostly self-taught and has completed Liss Smith’s freestyle calligraphy course. Anna lives in the Highland Park neighborhood with her husband Elliot and their two children, Ruby and Rory. She enjoys pretty words, making music, feeding people, and nerdy literature and television. You can find her shop, OwlPostLettering, on Etsy for custom lettered pieces and other nerdy artwork at OwlPostLettering.etsy.com. She also teaches “Making Homemade Pierogi” at the Rochester Brainery.
