Condiments are not the first thing people think of as something to make at home. But making condiments to add that special flavor a variety of dishes can be extremely rewarding! Fermenting condiments gives the added benefit of probiotics to support gut health. In this class, students will make a fermented hot sauce and mustard.
Please note: This class is allergen friendly.
- 1 lb of mixed hot peppers (Rule of thumb: The smaller the pepper the hotter it is. You can add up to 1/3 lb of bell peppers.)
- 4 cloves garlic
- 2 Tbsp mustard seed (yellow or brown)
- ¼ cup dried mustard powder
- Apple cider vinegar
- 1 Qt jar
- 1 8 oz jar
- 2 bowls
- Cutting board
This class is appropriate for ages 12+.

About the teacher:
Ali is the founder and owner of Spirit and Abundance, a company that seeks to help people connect and cultivate joy, mindfulness, and gratitude in a plant-based kitchen. She is a graduate from The Culinary Institute of America with a degree in Baking and Pastry, and The School of Hotel Administration from Cornell University. During her time at Cornell, she studied Zen Buddhism and that sparked her interest and passion in veganism, mindfulness, and meditation.
