Design and decorate your very own handcrafted stoneware soup bowl! In this class, students will learn the basics of using a slab method for bowl making along with stamping and underglaze techniques. There will be a variety of texture mats, stamps, and underglazes to help make your new favorite soup bowl just as unique as you are.
Please note: No prior pottery skills required! Students' bowls need to be fired after class. Items will be ready for pickup three weeks after the class date. Students are welcome to bring their own textures or stamps to use.
This class is appropriate for ages 16+.
This class will take place at Rochester Brainery, located at 176 Anderson Ave F109, Rochester NY 14607.
About the teacher:
Sara Kozak is a Rochester based interdisciplinary artist focusing primarily on functional ceramics. Her emphasis is on the importance of sharing unique daily rituals which shape who we are and help connect us to each other. Over the past 7 years, Sara has been a full-time ceramic artist and has had the honor of designing and producing collections for Anthropologie and HGTV’s Home Town. Her pottery has been styled for use in EatingWell Magazine & Country Living. Academically, Sara studied in the BFA program at SUNY Oswego and finished her studies at SUNY Polytechnic Institute with a BS in Communication & Design. She also holds an AAS in Graphic Design.
