Wednesday, September 14th | 7:00pm-9:00pm | Intermediate Comedy Improv: Got Your Back

“Got your back!” – it’s a phrase popular among improv teams, because while it can be nerve-wracking to make up scenes on the spot, knowing your teammates will support brings confidence. The theory is, if you make your partners look good and they operate under the same guideline, you will never fail. There are no mistakes, just gifts! The same theory applies offstage; when you build trust among coworkers, classmates, and teams, everyone feels more open to collaborate. In this class, practice the fundamentals of improvisation with a focus on supporting your partners. You’ll play games, perform short scenes, and work with your teammates to discover characters, themes, and your comedic voice. Get out of your head, trust your instincts, and listen to your partners for inspiration. Not only is improv fun, but it is also a tool for life: it can make you a better listener, public speaker, and creative thinker.

Please note: This class requires prior improvisation experience, including but not limited to six Rochester Brainery improv classes or equivalent.
