Have you inherited some family heirlooms? Have a collection that could use better storage? Explore museum standards for handling and storage of all kinds of objects, including photographs, scrapbooks, newspapers, textiles, vintage personal accessories, artwork, etc. Learn when to call in a professional conservator for repair or restoration. After a presentation, students will have time for hands-on work packing objects in archival storage. The class will include a printed reference guide to archival practices and resources.

This class will take place at Rochester Brainery, located at 176 Anderson Ave. F109, Rochester, NY 14607.

About the teacher:
Kate Jacus has a master's degree in Museum Studies and had a 13-year career in museums, including managing the care and storage of half a million objects at The Strong National Museum of Play. After an MBA and another decade in corporate marketing, she founded The Photo Curator and now is a certified professional photo organizer offering museum-quality photo organization and archive solutions for families and businesses. Kate also works as the Marketing Coordinator for Archival Methods, a Rochester-based manufacturer and supplier of archival storage and presentation supplies.
