Wednesday, August 17th and August 24th | 6:00pm-9:00pm | Organic Weaving with Hand-Dyed Fiber

Join us at Courtney Craig’s textile studio this season to experiment hand-dyeing with organic materials like indigo, turmeric, red cabbage, cochineal, and florals to achieve rich earth-tones on tapestry. We will discuss fabric mordants specifically on natural dyeing, with tips on how to prep and sustain natural dyes. This session will also include basic introductory weaving techniques on texture, fringe, and pattern. Everyone will receive their own custom tapestry loom and kit supplied with tools and materials in preparation for the second session of this fiber art series.

The second workshop will end with tapestry weaving our hand-dyed textiles into a truly one-of-a-kind wall hanging!

Please note: This is a two-part class and students will need to be available on August 17th and August 24th from 6:00pm - 9:00pm.

This class is appropriate for ages 18+.

This class will take place indoors at Courtney Craig’s textile studio located at 35 Flatt Rd, Rochester, NY 14623.
