Going plant-based does not have to be boring. There is a way to make all your comfort food favorites out of plants. In this class students will learn how to make bean burgers and oven baked french fries from the comfort of their own homes. This class uses gluten ingredients but can be made gluten free.

Ingredients Needed:
- 1 can (or 1 ½ c. cooked) beans of choice (black, pinto or white beans are preferred)
- breadcrumbs (or oat flour if gluten free)
- vegetable stock or bouillon
- garlic powder
- 1 small onion (optional)
- 1 handful of mushrooms (optional)
- black pepper
- salt
- olive oil, or cooking oil of choice
- 2 medium potatoes of choice
- burger buns of choice
- burger toppings of choice (ketchup, mustard, mayo, lettuce, tomato, onion, etc.)

Equipment Needed:
- 1 cookie sheet
- parchment paper
- large frying pan or griddle
- 2 large bowls
- gloves (optional)
- 1/3 c. measuring cup (optional)
- strainer or colander
- potato masher or large fork
- wooden spoon
- spatula
- knife
- cutting board

Age:
The recommended age for this class is 16+.

About the teacher:
Ali is the founder and owner of Spirit and Abundance, a company that seeks to help people connect and cultivate joy, mindfulness, and gratitude in a plant-based kitchen. She is a graduate from The Culinary Institute of America with a degree in Baking and Pastry, and The School of Hotel Administration from Cornell University. During her time at Cornell, she studied Zen Buddhism and that sparked her interest and passion in veganism, mindfulness, and meditation.
