Think beyond spring and summer! Container gardens are the perfect way to keep your home looking beautiful for the holidays and through the winter season. In this class, students will learn easy to follow planting and design tips to create a seasonal porch pot that fits their personal style:

Option 1: Traditional Textures
Enjoy the traditional textures of fresh evergreens such as: Cedar, White Pine, Fraser Fir, and Spruce. Then, add in personal touches with berries, ribbon, and preserved dried goods.

Option 2: The Natural Approach
Take a more natural approach while using materials from local Rochester gardens. Red Twigged Dogwood, Curly Willow branches, Sedum, Goldenrod, Hydrangea, Grass, Allium, Thistle and Norway Spruce cones provide a beautiful selection to choose from.

Please Note: Seeping sap from fresh evergreens can be sticky and get on your clothes, so be sure to dress appropriately—and warmly since this class will be outdoors (don't forget your gloves and a warm drink). Although not required, consider bringing garden pruners and gardening gloves to enhance your class experience.

About the teacher:
Jamie Snyder grew up on a farm that raised livestock, fruit, vegetables, and grain. Her love of plants and the outdoors helped her decide to enroll in college in horticulture, and completed a degree in landscape design from SUNY Morrisville. She worked in the garden center industry for 18 years where she had her hands in everything but also got to be creative designing containers for clients for every season. Jamie's business, Creative Gardens, reflects her passion for plants, flowers, and color!
