Serti (French for “fence” or “closing”) silk painting uses gutta resist and silk dyes to create beautiful watercoloresque patterns and imagery. In this class you will learn about the serti method and create your own 21” square silk scarf by tracing patterns with gutta, selecting a color palette, and painting with silk dyes. We will provide the tracing patterns should you want them, or you are welcome to free hand your patterns. No previous experience with drawing or painting is needed. This class is fun and relaxing and you will come away with a lovely new silk scarf!
Please note: Your finished piece will need to sit for 24 hours and then be dye-set. We will complete this part of the process for you and will have your scarf available for pickup or mailing the following week.
