Now is the perfect time to pick up an easy-to-do and beneficial home hobby! Wouldn't it be great if you could make your own kombucha from home? During this class, students will not only learn what kombucha is but also how to make themselves! All participants will receive a starter kit including a SCOBY and 1 c. of starter liquid farmed from Katboocha, 1 c. of sugar, and tea to get started on their first brew, as well as detailed instructions! 

Please note: If you would like your kit shipped, please submit your shipping address to this Google Form by October 16th. Kits for pick-up will be available at Katboocha (97 Railroad St. Rochester, NY 14620) on October 17th and 24th from 8am-2pm. Please Come to the overhead door next to Black Button (INSIDE of the parking lot) and text 585-905-7315 with your name and make of car. Your kit will be brought out to you.

The tools required to follow along are:
- 1-1.5 gallon glass jar (brew vessel)
- paper towel or clean kitchen towel 
- rubber band
- tea kettle (electric or stove top)
- thermometer 
- fine strainer
- filtered or distilled water
- white vinegar (optional)

This class is appropriate for ages 14+.

About the teacher:
Kat Schwarz is the owner of Katboocha, Rochester's first all-kombucha brewery! Katboocha focuses on small batch kombucha to hone in on flavor and artistry through "huggable" fermenters. Each batch is brewed no more than 60 gallons at a time, and each flavor is uniquely paired with its tea. Kat is thrilled to be at the precipice of this explosive new culture in Rochester, and aims to help shape the way we think about beverages.
