Wednesday, March 30th | 6:30pm-8:30pm | Tortillas and Arepas

A delicious and versatile ingredient, corn is used in many Latin American foods. This class will focus on two popular ways to use cornmeal and corn flour. Each student will make their own tortillas and arepas (cornmeal cakes). Students will leave with recipes to recreate at home - and this is an ideal class for gluten-free folks!

Please note: Participants should bring a to-go container to take their tortillas and arepas home in. Fillings will not be provided, so have your favorite ready at home! Students will be standing during this class, however a limited number of stools will be available.

This class is appropriate for ages 18+.

This class will take place at Eat Me Ice Cream located inside The Hungerford Building at 1115 East Main St. Suite 148. Please enter through Door 1.

Live subtitles will be available upon request during this class. If you prefer a sign language interpreter, please fill out our contact form. Please also let us know if you have any preferences (seating, vision access, etc).

About the teacher:
Christin Ortiz has been working in restaurants since she was 19. Starting in the front of the house, she realized early on she preferred the back of the house. Having worked in different kitchens, she is most proficient in Italian and Hispanic cuisine. Most recently Christin ran the food program at Joe Bean Roastery, where she focused the menu on her Latin-American heritage. She loves sharing her passion for food, and wants everyone to be able to cook the food they crave!
