Do you find yourself dreading the tough, emotionally-laden talk with a co-worker or manager? Do you want help being able to hold serious, impactful and meaningful discussions? We will discuss the leading perspectives on how to prepare for such conversations whether they are about one incident, a long-term situation or a behavior that is contentious. Students will be encouraged to bring general examples that they are willing to talk about in class—anonymously or openly, without naming names. We will discuss a plan to have such talks to get results that can help in your job, your working relationships and your career.

Please note: The ticket price does include one happy hour glass of wine for those 21+. Anyone under the age of 21 can enjoy a non-alcoholic beverage. A happy half-hour will take place from 5:30pm-6:00pm and the class will run from 6:00pm-9:00pm.

About the teachers:
Margi Ochs holds a BA degree from Georgetown University and an MBA from the University of Rochester. She has taught advanced management courses at the University of Rochester and now RIT, including a course in entrepreneurship and business start-up. She enjoys counseling and helping passionate people with great new ideas and is known for both candid feedback and passionate ideas!

Barry Strauber is a 30+ year veteran of the advertising industry, working for agencies on the east and west coast. In Rochester, he worked at Partners + Napier for 12 years as Vice President of Agency/Creative Services. Barry is the founder and owner of Rising NY LLC, a branding and marketing agency, and a co-founder of Carlson Cowork, a 16,000 square foot co-working space. Barry is also a professor at Rochester Institute of Technology, where he teaches marketing. He’s also a member of the RIT College of Liberal Arts Dean’s Advisory Board where he looks for opportunities to integrate new technologies & marketing practices in order to expand student learning and success.
