Terrariums are a wonderful way to bring nature indoors in a very easy to care for way. They have been around for almost 200 years and have quite a history. Terrariums were discovered accidentally by a doctor in the 1820’s, have been used to smuggle tea plants from China to India, were a status symbol in Victorian households and have had many waves of popularity throughout the decades.
Studies keep popping up describing how many health benefits we receive from being around nature. Having lots of houseplants is great except we often experience limited space, busy schedules and concerns of maintenance. Terrariums are a great way to balance it all. They bring a bit of nature into your home or office, take up very little space and do best when left alone.
For this project, we will use an upright glass jar. You will have a selection of various sand colors, plants and other decorations to design the perfect little world. Everyone can stamp a rock to add a special message inside of your terrarium.
