What is all this “Holistic Living” Mumbo-Jumbo?

By Tracy Martorana, Owner of Tracy’s Teas

Do you hear the word “holistic” a lot these days? How about terms like “sustainable” or “whole foods”? I notice these words everywhere, and I wonder why they have become the new buzz words? People all over the globe have been falling into unhealthy habits and I believe people are tired of feeling sick and tired. People want to feel healthy and vibrant; they want to be part of a supportive and uplifting community. Are you tired of feeling sick and run-down? Let me teach you how to get your mojo back - how to live a better, healthier, more fulfilling life.

If this is the first time you are meeting me, let me give you a quick rundown of who I am. My name is Tracy. I am an herbalist, a quality assurance analyst, a wife, a mother, a sister, a daughter, a homeowner, a neighbor and a friend. I work full time as a QA analyst and run my own business (Tracy’s Teas). I admit I have a lot on my plate, but all of these roles are important to me. I also feel a strong need to be an active member on this planet. I give time and money to several charities and try to live a conscientious life. However, I have found that in order to do this, it takes a mind-set that is slightly different from the fast-food, more is more, sedentary, and careless lifestyle that is marketed to us everywhere.

I recently decided to expand my business from just selling herbal remedies and teas, to teaching and coaching people on living a more holistic lifestyle. Why? Because if I want these things for myself, I have to believe others want it too.

So what exactly does Holistic Living mean to me? I have searched for the perfect definition, but I can’t find just one because it really does mean a variety of things. Here are my favorite definitions:

- Living a balanced life; physically, mentally and spiritually.

- Living in harmony with the earth.

- Making healthy & ethical choices.

- Taking care of yourself and your environment.

- Focus on health and disease prevention through healthy, balanced living.

It is my intention to live my life this way, and to inspire and coach you to do the same. I am devoting my blog to this topic, in hopes that we can build a community of like-minded people, supporting each other in living a wonderful and holistic life. You can find out more about me and my blog at www.tracysteas.com. Thank you for spending your valuable time with me, I hope to meet you again at a class or on my blog!

- Tracy

Tracy will be teaching a variety of Holistic Living Classes at Rochester Brainery. Her next upcoming class will be on "Herbology 101" on Wednesday, April 24th from 7-9pm. Check it out here!
