Rochester Brainery is located at, on 176 Anderson Ave. F109 in Rochester, NY 14607. There is a small parking lot next to our space that you are welcome to park in as well as ample street parking. Overflow parking is available in the large Village Gate parking lot, too!
Rochester Brainery is typically open Monday through Thursday from 5pm-9pm, Friday from 9am-5pm and 10am-5pm on weekends. We've held birthday parties, baby showers, bridals showers, family reunions, team building workshops and even a few weddings in the past. Absolutely! Rochester Brainery would be happy to surprise someone with the gift of knowledge! After you purchase the membership we will send you an email yo confirm who the membership is for, as well as to grab some additional details. Simply let us know at that time if the membership is a gift and we'll go from there. By the way, we also offer gift cards of any amount if you'd like to go that route!
We typically hold classes that run between 1 to 3 hours, but are open to different time-frames to best suit your class.
Yes! Teachers are paid $5 for every seat sold in their class. We also reimburse for any class supplies purchased, up to $15 per ticket.
Once we book your class, it goes onto our website so people can start purchasing seats. Therefore, it is extremely important that you make it to the class you’ve scheduled. Teachers who cancel classes without a minimum of 48 hours notice, or an alternate teacher who can teach on their behalf, may not be invited back to teach at Rochester Brainery. Teaching a class is a commitment, and we don’t want to let our students down.
You can purchase a seat online or in-store. Walk-ups are welcome to most classes unless a class is previously sold out or if the class requires supplies and we don't have enough (if we don’t know you’re coming, we can’t purchase supplies for you). If you're planning to walk-in, we typically suggest calling ahead to let us know.
It’s easy! We work with a number of student and professional volunteer interpreters. Just email us at firstname.lastname@example.org at least 48 hours in advance with the class you’d like interpretation services for and we will book a sign language interpreter for that class for free.
Class ticket purchases are non-refundable or exchangeable. This is because our teachers purchase materials and plan for their classes based on the number of students registered. However, if you’d like to offer your seat in that class to a friend or family member, we’d be happy to let them take your seat. We ask that you please call us ahead of time or email us at email@example.com by noon on the day of the class to let us know.
Rochester Brainery may cancel a class for extreme weather conditions, an emergency, in the case that there are not enough seats purchased to cover running the class (we have a 6 seat minimum for on-site classes and an 8 seat minimum for off-site classes), or in the event that a teacher is unable to make the class. We will try to reschedule the class on the same day of the week, and the same scheduled time, as soon as we can. If you cannot make the rescheduled date, we will make an exception, and refund you the price of your seat.
Often times throughout the year we run promotions on classes and gift cards. These promotions are only valid for purchases during the time the promotion is running and cannot be applied after the fact. If you missed a deal, we apologize- but we promise that another is just around the corner! Discounts cannot be used in combination with other discounts.
Our gift cards never expire and can be used towards the purchase of any class or Freelance Friday workday. Gift cards cannot be used towards space rental fees or Brainery Bazaar vendor payments.
Unfortunately not. As New York State law states, since we do not a carry a liquor license BYOB is not permitted. Under this law, we are also not allowed to give away alcoholic beverages to students. If you are looking to rent our space, a temporary permit may be obtained by a caterer, and we are happy to chat more with you about that here.
