All About Fall Class Roundup!

All About Fall Class Roundup!

Autumn is in full swing here in Rochester, and it’s time to get into the seasonal spirit. October is inarguably the falliest of all the fall months, and at Rochester Brainery, we have some excellent fall-themed classes for you to partake in!

Thursday, October 8th | 7:00-8:30PM | Classic Custard: Fall Flavors

Classic Custard: Fall Flavors will focus on making fall-inspired flavors like pumpkin-goat cheese and apple-honey. Can I get a YUM YUM!? Making frozen custard from home might seem like a daunting task, but through this class, participants will learn the essentials needed for making homemade custard, receive a hands-on demonstration, and of course, a tasting! The founders of Eat Me Ice Cream, Catelyn Augustine and Amber Odhner, will be teaching the class at their store which is located in the Hungerford Building.

Sunday, October 11th | 1:00-4:00PM | Ukrainian Egg Decorating: Pumpkin Style

Halloween is approaching fast, and that means it’s time to decorate your home like the haunted house it’s been waiting to become all year long. Linda Bowers of Just Eggsquisite can help take some of the pressure off by teaching you Traditional Ukrainian Egg Decorating. This class will focus on creating cute little pumpkin eggs and a display for them to strut their stuff. Ms. Bowers has over 25 years of egg-decorating experience, so you know your eggs will be in good hands.

Thursday, October 15th | 6:00-9:00PM | Hand Knit a Beanie

With the cooler weather sneaking in, it’s time to take out the scarves, coats, gloves, hats… oh no! You find that your closet is void of a fall-fashion staple: the beanie. No need to fear, Kayla Carpitella is here to teach you how to hand-knit a beanie just in time for the winter. Whether you’re a Knitting Knovice, or a Knitting Knobody, Ms. Carpitella has you covered, learning the essentials to knitting-in-round, knit stitch, purl stitch, ribbing, and much more. A hand-knit beanie will be a great addition to your wardrobe, and it also makes a great gift! You’ll be churning out so many beanies for friends and family that they’ll start to call you the Beanie Baby, and you know, deep down, you’re dying for that to be your nickname anyways.

Sunday, October 25th | 2:00-4:00PM | Meditative Drawing: Halloween Style

Want a relaxing, meditative new hobby that also expresses your creative side? Come to the Juni Moon’s Meditative Drawing class and see what all the fuss is about. Meditative drawing is great for relieving stress and breaking creative blocks. Additionally, this class will help you get into the Halloween spirit, because participants will be drawing on mini pumpkins! Some drawing materials are provided, but feel free to bring your own so that you can create something uniquely you.

Monday, October 26th | 6:00-9:00pm | Pumpkin Carving and a Fall Dinner with Lento Restaurant

For all you pumpkin lovers out there, this class is a double fantasy! We’ll start off the night with a classic: pumpkin carving. Awaken your inner pumpkin sculptor/painter and create a masterpiece to display on your front porch for all Trick-or-Treaters to admire. Once your piece is complete, participants will head over to Lento for a very special 3-course pumpkin-inspired meal prepared specially for the class. Courses are as follows:

Course I: Trio of Pumpkin- Pickles, gnocchi, and sformato (and Italian style savory custard)
Course II: Pumpkin Ravioli, sage brown butter sauce, local spinach, amaretti, and pecorino romano
Course III: Pumpkin pie, candied pumpkin seeds, and bourbon whipped cream
