This is Brain Music: a selection of songs curated monthly by different members of the Rochester community that we hope will inspire you the same way it inspires its curator. Today, we bring you a playlist curated by jewelry designer Marisa Krol. Without further ado, here's Brain Music Episode 37.
My name is Marisa Krol and I am the hands and heart behind Interstellar Love Craft Adornment. I started my business 10 years ago after recognizing something powerful and magical was stirring within me. I didn’t realize early on that this would lead me to becoming a jeweler designer, I just did what I enjoyed and spent as much time as I could working with this energy. It felt devotional and alive with potential.
Both silence and music have always shared a space in the studio and creative process. Sometimes a vision for a piece will come to mind from a song. Other times, music will speak to where I am or what I am feeling in ways I couldn't possibly articulate. It can help break down emotional blocks, allowing the creative life force the freedom it needs to come through and fully express itself.
Some songs bring a sense of peace and balance to the environment. While others uplift, inspire and empower. Others yet, speak to more challenging, raw emotional states all while creating fertile ground for strength to be ignited and passion to take flight. Each finished piece of jewelry reflects aspects of this process, of our shared human experience. The music, can help set the stage or tone allowing this energy to be channeled into something beautiful and representative of the moment it came alive. It bonds us.
