There's no doubt that finding the perfect playlist can motivate and inspire you. Whether it's finishing the last mile of your run, tackling that laundry you've been putting off, or getting you through your workday, tunes can change everything. So let's motivate and inspire each other, shall we?
This is Brain Music: a selection of songs curated monthly by different members of the Rochester community that we hope will inspire you the same way it inspires its curator.
Today we bring you a playlist from Rachael Gootnick of Just Terrific! Without further ado, Brain Music Episode 12:

My name is Rachael, owner and artist behind Just Terrific, and I specialize in bookbinding and book restorations. Whether I'm listening while I work in my studio, jamming out in my car, or hearing a live set from my local favorites, music is an everyday occurrence. I’ve always gravitated towards history; antique books, vintage photos…things that tell an old story. Music can be such a time capsule and can reflect a certain moment in time. Essentially, musicians are storytellers.

In my work, I strive to encourage people to archive their stories in a handmade journal. I also repair and revive books for future generations to enjoy. So much of what I create with my two hands I know will become part of someone’s history. It’s gives me an intimate and personal connection to my work which is priceless to me as an artist.

Most of the music on this playlist are considered ‘oldies’. I enjoy listening to older music because to me it keeps the past just a bit closer to the present, just like an old book. A few are more current, but with a vintage sound to them, often reminiscent of an older genre. I hope you enjoy my playlist. Kick back with a cup of warm coffee, a journal and enjoy - that’s what I’d do!
