Brain Music Episode 13: Dave DiPrimo

There's no doubt that finding the perfect playlist can motivate and inspire you. Whether it's finishing the last mile of your run, tackling that laundry you've been putting off, or getting you through your workday, tunes can change everything. So let's motivate and inspire each other, shall we?

This is Brain Music: a selection of songs curated monthly by different members of the Rochester community that we hope will inspire you the same way it inspires its curator.

Today we bring you a playlist from Dave DiPrimo of the Dave DiPrimo Band! Without further ado, Brain Music Episode 13:

Every song that I write starts as a simple folk song. Then I listen to a bunch of soul, rock, jazz, and alternative music, and I make the song more complicated. At that point, I show up to band practice, start playing and have the guys do what feels natural. What’s born of that is Dave DiPrimo Band, a celebration of all the musical genres we love, inflicted with our own personalities and tendencies.

DDB isn’t focused on being a genre, we’re focused on the feelings in our music. Every song that I write starts as a deeply personal endeavor, but it’s the collaboration of the full group that brings the tunes to life. It’s amazing to see people singing along in the crowd to songs like “American Dream," which I wrote full of nostalgia and with a longing to follow my passions. It’s also so cool to see Karis, Ian and Reid play their hearts out on these songs, and even though they’re probably “too cool” to admit it, I’m sure a lot of those songs mean something to them too.

The relationship our band has formed and our free feeling process has allowed Dave DiPrimo Band to be a group that hopefully audiences anywhere can connect to. This has been an amazing journey so far, and today we’re excited to share our new single “Now” topping off a playlist of songs that inspired it.
