There's no doubt that finding the perfect playlist can motivate and inspire you. Whether it's finishing the last mile of your run, tackling that laundry you've been putting off, or getting you through your workday, tunes can change everything. So let's motivate and inspire each other, shall we?

This is Brain Music: a selection of songs curated monthly by different members of the Rochester community that we hope will inspire you the same way it inspires its curator.

Today we bring you a playlist from local student film-maker, Jack Aman. Jack attends McQuaid High School and last year, Jack's film about the Paris Climate Change Agreement won the Youth Audience Choice Award at the Fast Forward Film Festival. Let's see what inspires him… Without further ado, Brain Music Episode 6:

[...] on my commute to school. I have one master playlist that’s 700 hundred songs long and almost 3 days long from start to finish. Its filled with practically every genre imaginable, and makes my daily bus ride a real roller coaster of emotions, which lends its self well to my commute. Songs like the inexhaustible Let Her Dance, and the baroquial anthem of Raise it Up, are loud enough to wake me up and drown out the debate between two freshmen on whether a Charizard is the permeant Pokémon, while more somber songs like Every Time the Sun Comes Up and Bad, bring me back down to the sobering reality of a 8 o’clock calculus test.

Music plays a big role in my life, I think it is integral in facilitating your own creativity to listen to other’s. I like to explore music wherever I can find it, admittedly there are at least two songs on this list I discovered in car commercials and more than half of them come from a friend of mine who knows music much better than I. But it’s my playlist so I’ll pretend that I found all of these songs personally by sifting through a music store wearing a turtleneck and sipping on a comically small cup of espresso. Enjoy!
