Nail care is a relaxing ritual, but what exactly is in all those nail products? With help from Jessica Lynne, salon owner and nail artist of 12 years, learning how to take care of your nails without all the icky stuff (like toluene, dibutyl phthalate (DBP), and formaldehyde) doesn’t have to be challenging. There are simple swaps and methods to make nail care clean and easy.

Pure Sole Nails is Rochester’s first non-toxic nail studio, founded by Jessica Lynn in July 2017. As a master pedicurist and nail artist, her passion for a non-toxic lifestyle inspired her to launch Pure Sole Nails.

Pure Sole Nails

"After working in the industry for many years, I saw a client base developing who shared my values with a desire for a different kind of nail studio. A studio that is ‘fume free’ and offers the best quality products that are vegan, non-toxic and cruelty free," says Jessica Lynne.

Here are her favorite tips to take care of your nails, naturally.

Cuticle Oil

Cuticles

“I try to avoid toxic ingredients all together,” says founder Jessica Lynn. “I make a conscious effort to read labels and do my best to stay educated about what ingredients are the most toxic.” Her pro-tip? Purchase products with the least amount of ingredients that are also real. For cuticle care, jojoba oil, coconut oil, or any non-synthetic oil blend helps to promote strength and growth while also keeping your nails hydrated while wearing lacquer or gel. Keeping your cuticles and nails moisturized goes a long way in protecting against breakage—and makes your mani last longer, too!

Vitamins

Strong Nails

Jessica Lynn suggests ditching the biotin and instead, invest in a collagen supplement! There are an abundance of vegan and non-vegan options available. Silica is also a great go-to aid for nail strength. Healthy, nourished nails keep polish (whether gel or regular lacquer) longer.

Regular (Non-Toxic!) Manis

Rochester Brainery Nails

Sticking to a regular mani schedule not only makes sure you get some self-care in, but also improves the quality and health of your nails. Regular appointment keep your hands and nails looking fabulous—and they also help reduce breakage, peeling, chipping, cuticle damage and improve hydration to your nail plate.

Book your event at Rochester Brainery during the month of July (the event can be anytime in 2019), and you’ll get a free regular manicure from Pure Sole Nails!
