This rare remnant of old-growth forest tucked into Cobbs Hill Park is one of our area's greatest ecological treasures. Students will leave this class able to both identify our local forests’ major native tree species from leaves and bark, and to interpret the silent ecological stories told in trees, wherever their next hike takes them.
Please note: A rain date for this class is scheduled for June 8th from 11am-12:30pm. Students registering for this class must also be available for the rain date, and will be automatically transferred if weather prohibits class on June 1st. Refunds or exchanges will not be given if students are unable to make the rain date.
This trip will entail walking about three-quarters of a mile on an earth trail that is moderately inclined and potentially muddy in a few areas. Students will be on their feet for the duration of the class; please choose your footwear accordingly. You are also encouraged to bring your own personal water bottle to stay hydrated. If you experience seasonal or general environment allergies, please consider preventative preparation ahead of class time. At the conclusion of class, the student and instructor will walk together back to the meeting place where class begins.
