Learn the basics of crochet by making a small rag rug out of recycled yarn! Participants will learn how to chain, single and double crochet stitch. Yarn and hook provided. Making rag rugs are a great way to repurpose old clothing, bed sheets or scrap fabric for a functional and fun household item. The recycled yarn used in this class makes for an updated feel while still paying homage to the traditional homesteading practice. Leave with crochet skills you can take to future projects.

About the teacher:
Kayla Carpitella has been obsessed with making things since she was a kid. Her strange and exciting freelance career includes knitting jobs for the knitwear designer DEGEN, Joe Fresh, Adult Swim, and Heluva Good Cheese, and ceramic production for Love Adorned in NYC. She has taught machine knitting, crochet, and macrame at the Textile Arts Center in Brooklyn, and is excited about teaching in her hometown.
