Brain Music Header

There's no doubt that finding the perfect playlist can motivate and inspire you. Whether it's finishing the last mile of your run, tackling that laundry you've been putting off, or getting you through your workday, tunes can change everything. So let's motivate and inspire each other, shall we?

This is Brain Music: a selection of songs curated monthly by different members of the Rochester community that we hope will inspire you the same way it inspires its curator.

Today we bring you a playlist from local stylist and photographer, Hannah Betts. While she often stays behind the scenes, we are sure you've seen her work. Having recently styled, Joe Bean Coffee Roasters and Radio Social, she also styled our lovely new (can we can new if it's been almost a year?) space! Without further ado, Brain Music Episode 7:

 Hannah Intro

Hello! My name is Hannah Betts and I am the owner of Lives Styled, an interior styling and photography studio. Music keeps me focused, inspired and relaxed in those moments when anxiety tries to get the best of me.  On days where I need a little empowerment I put on Beyonce, on Sunday mornings Françiose Hardy, Beach House when I need to just work without distraction and Tank and the Bangas when I need inspiration.

As I was writing out the list of what I listened to, I re-discovered how much music impacts my daily life. I see how my son stops everything and dances when his favorite song comes on or how he calms when I sing him his Lauryn Hill lullaby (To Zion) that I have done so since I was pregnant. It's a powerful tool in advocacy, art and even those simple moments of reflection. From Hip Hop to Broadway (or Hip Hop Broadway), I hope you find a little inspiration.
