Discover the beauty and boldness of watercolor florals in this poppy-focused workshop—perfect for beginners and those looking to grow their skills! Capture the graceful curves, delicate textures, and dramatic shapes of poppies—both in bloom and as buds—through a striking monochromatic study. Using just one color palette, minimal tools, and the luminous qualities of India inks, you’ll explore wet-on-wet techniques, layering, and how to create depth from soft backgrounds to detailed foregrounds.
You’ll start with warm-up exercises to loosen your brushwork, then build toward a completed floral composition, all while following along with your provided workbook. This class is designed to be approachable for first-time watercolor painters while still offering exciting challenges for those with some experience. You’ll leave with new techniques, creative confidence, and a poppy-filled masterpiece of your own.
This class is appropriate for ages 14+.
This class will take place at Pretty Apothecary, located at 34 Elton Street, Suite 303, Rochester, NY 14607.
If you would like to request a sign language interpreter, will be attending class with an aide, or have any preferences (seating, vision access, etc), please fill out our contact form. Access to Pretty Apothecary is available by both stairs and an elevator. If you need elevator access, please call Pretty Apothecary in advance at 585-413-0101 and they will assist you.
Class ticket purchases are non-refundable for any reason. A transfer into a different class of equal or greater value may be granted if requested at least 72 hours prior to the class date. Students are always welcome to have someone attend in their place, too!
While we know this is not always ideal, as a small business this is the only way we can ensure our teachers are paid for their time and supplies and our venues are paid rent for their space. We appreciate your support!
