Discover a research-based approach to supporting bone health through yoga. This class explores poses inspired by the Fishman Method, which focuses on improving bone density in the hips and spine while promoting strength, balance, and mobility. Participants will practice movements designed to strengthen the core, back, and hips, improve posture, and enhance body awareness for fall prevention. Whether you're looking to address bone loss or take proactive steps for healthy aging, this class offers a safe and supportive environment to learn effective techniques. Leave with practical tools and exercises you can continue using to support long-term bone health.
Please note: This is a one-session or six-session class. Please select between the July 6th session only, or all six sessions. Students who select all six sessions must be available Monday, 7/6, 7/13, 7/27, 8/3, 8/10, and 8/17 from 9:00AM-10:00AM.
This class is appropriate for ages 18+.
This class will take place at The Assisi Institute, located at 1400 N Winton Road, Rochester, NY 14609.
If you would like to request a sign language interpreter, will be attending class with an aide, or have any preferences (seating, vision access, etc), please fill out our contact form.
Class ticket purchases are non-refundable for any reason. A transfer into a different class of equal or greater value may be granted if requested at least 72 hours prior to the class date. Students are always welcome to have someone attend in their place, too!
While we know this is not always ideal, as a small business this is the only way we can ensure our teachers are paid for their time and supplies and our venues are paid rent for their space. We appreciate your support!

Meet the Teacher
Samana Lake, PT, CYT, BSPTS certified therapist for scoliosis, instructs this class, leading participants in safe, effective practices to improve their posture, bone health, spinal alignment, and trunk strength. She teaches them safe ways to move in their daily routine. Samana has been teaching yoga since 2003 and loves empowering her students with practices to help them feel better, look better, and move more easily in their lives while protecting the spine as they age. Yoga for Bone health and posture is Samana's key area of interest, as this serves as a complement to her physical therapy practice, which focuses on spine care.
