10 Reasons You Should Join Us For Movies With A Downtown View

Last year we gave you 10 reasons we thought you should come to The Rochesteriat's Movies With A Downtown View. Since tonight marks the start of the 2016 season we thought we would share with you an updated list about why we will be at #MWADV!

1. Jason and Stefanie Schwingle

These two are so supportive of the Rochester community (this photo was taken last night at our Open House) and co-own one fabulous blog, The Rochestariat. They're #1 on the list because we appreciate all they work they do (along with the help of their partners and sponsors) bringing #MWADV downtown- now in its 3rd year!

2. It's FREE!

That's right. A movie under the stars, at MLK Jr. Memorial Park, completely free.

3. FREE Snacks!

On top of the free movie, there will be free snacks courtesy of Frito Lay!

4. The Sandlot

Ham Porter: Hey, Smalls, you wanna s'more?
Smalls: Some more of what?
Ham Porter: No, do you wanna s'more?
Smalls: I haven't had anything yet, so how can I have some more of nothing?
Ham Porter: You're killing me Smalls!

Need we say more? If somehow you've gone through life having never seen this 1993 classic, check out what you've been missing tonight, starting at 7pm. If you have seen it, come join us in putting forth our best effort to not quote every line.

5. The Perks Of Being A Wallflower

Based on the novel written by Stephen Chbosky, "The Perks Of Being A Wallflower" came out in 2012 and stars Emma Watson, which means we love it already. We haven't seen this movie yet, so we're excited to pull up a blanket on August 19th and check it out!

6. A Special Release From Upstate Social Sessions

Fill disclosure, #6 is Rochester Brainery related since we help produce Upstate Social Sessions, now in it's 2nd year. But, we had to make the mention since we've worked hard on something special with our friends at Optic Sky that you'll get to see tonight before the movie!

7. The Food and Bev Options

There will be plenty of tasty options for those of you coming to #MWADV an appetite. Tonight you'll be able to enjoy Roc Brewing Co., Glen Edith, Marty's Meats, Stingray Sushifusion and Eat Me Ice Cream. Can't wait to see who will be joining them in August!

8. An Interpreter and Subtitles

Making sure their events are accessible, #MWADV will have an interpreter for their introduction and raffle prizes. In addition, both movies will be subtitled in English. They ask that if you have a specific request for an interpreter for the event to email them ahead of time.

9. Their Poster Made By Type High LetterPress

For a donation of $10 to #MWADV you'll get this great event poster (photo from The Rochesteriat). Buy one online or bring cash this evening to pick one up.

10. PRIZES!

The ESL Kindness Crew will be on site to welcome movie-goers with giveaways from local businesses (like a gift card and a tee from Rochester Brainery). The Grand Prize giveaway this year is 2-Roundtrip tickets from Jetblue Airways that will be raffled off before the start of the August movie. While you do have to be at the movie to win the local prizes, according to The Rochesteriat's website, you do not have to be present to win the Grand Prize!
